Living With Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a disease where the pancreas does not adequately produce insulin, or the body cannot properly use the insulin it does produce. As a result, glucose (sugar) builds up in the blood instead of being used for energy
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin. The exact reason for this is unknown, although genetic and environmental factors such as excess weight and inactivity are known contributing factors. The good news is that with proper diet and exercise most cases can be managed.
